Uses the last layer as a semi-infinite backing. Its thickness is ignored, the rear surface is excluded, and external transmission is zero. Remove any rear coating when modeling an opaque wafer.
Averages the optical response over incidence angles. Available for wavelength sweeps; the single incidence-angle input is not used.
Coherent retains interference in all layers. Incoherent (mixed layers) automatically treats layers 10 μm or thicker incoherently, averaging their fringes, while thin coatings stay coherent. This does not make a layer opaque.
P polarization has its electric field parallel to the plane of incidence; S is perpendicular. Unpolarized averages the P and S responses.
